The disgust in pulling over was palpable in Dad’s eye roll. Unlike most road trips, he didn’t go berserk about sticking to the travel itinerary; it was all about making good time.
Dozer breathed a thankful sigh of relief that his mom said something; he figured his bladder would gush like a broken water pipe in the backseat if he had to hold it for any longer than the next exit. Dad would have been more likely to reject his request anyways.
When Dozer saw the moving van breaking away from the paved artery coursing through California, bliss was near.
