Easier Said Than Done

For the better part of two rounds, Ray was blanketed with heavy pressure and punishing ground-and-pound by an opponent with Olympic Wrestling experience.

Before Ray left his stool for the third frame, his Coach implored, “Circle on the feet and maintain your striking distance because if you don’t, the fight’s a wrap.”

More tired than he’d ever been during a fight, Ray wanted to explain to his coach that this guy’s speed and strength was mesmerizing in comparison than anything he’d encountered previously. “But…” escaped Ray’s mouth, which tasted like a tin can as it pooled with blood.

“Zip it with any excuses!” Coach interjected.

Twenty seconds later, Ray was flat on his back.
