Fighting’s Paradox

The first few measures of his walkout song seeped from the speakers. Like all fighters willing to admit it, thoughts of flight flittered with the butterflies, but a true fighter welcomes the spine-tingling buzz; he lives for this moment. 

All the late nights training, days ignoring howls of hunger while dieting and cutting weight, time away from loved ones; all the painful sacrifice for fifteen-minutes: the paradox of fighting.
