“Do you have wax in your fucking ears, Mitchell?”
“No sir,” and after Mitchell’s received his review he faced his partner to vent, “What was that about?”
Nobody knew for sure. There were rumors his marriage had recently veered off course, and that, along with the gym’s dwindling memberships, could force a visceral reaction out of anyone backed against the wall.
Unfortunately, as Mitchell heard from a friend who still trained there, his former Coach came completely unraveled upon hearing he and a handful of other fighters decided to join a rival gym on the other side of town.

Seeing one’s members and coach go to a rival gym can hurt. Good description.
