Nerves of Steel

The mouth guard stops him from gnawing his fingers;

Whether you see it or not, his nerves are frayed.

Butterflies in stomach must have stingers,

Coping with pressure, everything seems delayed.

No well rehearsed plot, prepare for the unknown;

Whatever you encounter, you set the tone.

A paradigm shift that’s difficult to trust;

Without mobility, you’re stuck in Earth’s crust.
