Lost Time

It was the beginning of the end.

After getting clipped behind the ear, his internal compass was knocked off kilter, sending him into a state of several whiskeys to the wind. Only a wizard would have made it out of this steel gauntlet without suffering a scratch.

Light bulbs flashed behind his eyes; then, he warped into a black hole.

Initially, he could only describe what put him flat on the canvas as a whatchamacallit, but coach would fill in the gaps later.

“Crazy all that time preparing for a moment that will never live in my remembrance,” was the first coherent sentence he strung together after his cornerman helped him to the stool.
