Flash Fiction: Fight Night Fun

The children stared at the sky just as an airplane flew overhead. In the plane’s wake waved an advertisement for the weekend’s boxing pay-per-view—Al Robertson versus Dontel Hawkings for the Heavyweight Championship.

Though the kids couldn’t comprehend the gravity of these two massive brutes squaring off, they were well-aware of what these summer evenings entailed: pizza, soda, their parents’ friends coming over with their own children, some cursing, ice cream, and sometimes the kids would slap on a pair of gloves and mimic the moves on the screen for the adults.

Fight nights were the best!
