The President of Renegade Rage entered Nolan’s locker room; his body language read of bad news.
After firing off, “Ron pulled out,” like a stiff jab to Nolan’s nose, he continued, “But I was able to find a replacement, if you’re interested.”
Nolan felt he’d made it to a phase in his career where fighting the faceless, short-notice opponent was a thing of the past, but the decision, once again, stood right here. He didn’t want to refund the money from the tickets he sold, so he, begrudgingly, agreed.
The unpredictable nature of the sport became even more uncertain.
