Uncle Ray, who doubled as coach, called for combinations. Gary’s strikes, however, lacked motivation, especially with the biggest fight of his career on the horizon. “You seem drained,” Coach noted.
Gary agreed.
Ray suggested getting away from the gym. “What about a hot air balloon ride?” But Gary hated heights. “What about horseback riding?” But Gary didn’t trust large animals. “What about a weekend in the woods?” Sold.
City life was muted by the sea of forest. Turning the key to enter what felt like a secret getaway, he knew this was what he needed to rekindle the missing joy.
