Flash Fiction: Mule Martial Artist

“Planting your feet and throwing bombs won’t work in this fight,” coach repeated from the corner while watching Darren spar. 

“I’m trying, coach,” Darren responded, but it was obvious he wasn’t.

Coach muttered, “I’ve never worked with anyone as obdurate as you.”

Darren thought coach was referring to his punching power.

Of course, things went exactly as coach predicted. He told Darren, “Too bad your chin isn’t as hard as your head.”
