A new MMA gym opened near Kevin’s house, and his parents enrolled him.
One practice, coach announced it was “Pain Day,” which meant students were lined against the wall and pummeled to build their pain tolerance.
Kevin explained the abuse to his parents, “He punches us until we drop on our knees; then says we should feel gratitude.”
They assumed he was being dramatic and offered a “never-give-up” pep talk.
The next “Pain Day,” everyone agreed. Before coach worked the line, they countered, serving justice like an angry hive and leaving him in a heap on the mats.
