Flash Fiction: The Art of Negotiation

Trent and his manager were in a heated discussion about the renewal of his contract. 

“I’ve been there for over three years. Settling on a rate other than what I’m worth is ridiculous,” was Trent’s broken-record rebuttal. 

The Pit Masters Heavyweight Champion wasn’t looking to surpass the highest paid athletes in sports, but another zero on his paycheck seemed fair. 

When the promotion’s President laughed at upping his pay ten-fold, Trent slapped the table like a courtroom’s gavel, “Boom! I’m a free-agent.”

Once word spread, The Big Show accepted Trent’s deal and added him to their roster.
