Crushed Dreams

He thought it had all been a dream,

But, instead, it was a nightmare;

All anyone could do was stare.

Awakening to a bright beam,

Circled by a medical team.

The goal was to take home the belt;

Reality caused him to melt.

Laid out flat on the cage’s floor,

Wishes closed like a slamming door;

The hardest punch he ever felt.
