“I almost got it,” were Curtis’s final words before throwing his shoe into the tree to try and retrieve his frisbee.
The shoe, instead, hit a nest of bees. It was as if a faucet had been turned on, pouring a deafening buzz from the heavens.
Curtis’s friend, Ryan, pulled him away from the tree. Curtis’s head ballooned to the size of a watermelon by the time Ryan called 9-1-1.
Luckily, doctors were able to save Curtis’s life, though he was hospitalized for two weeks.
Upon leaving the hospital, with some puffiness still visible, he was ecstatic to still be alive.
