Flash Fiction: Friendship Can Bite

Dominic had been hounding his parents for over a year about a dog.

All their pushback about responsibility, time, and money forced him to abandon such a reality.

To Dominic’s surprise, his mom walked through the door on his birthday holding a mutt with a coat the color of chocolate chip cookie dough. His mom had sent a text message saying they had a big surprise for him, but he never expected this!

For weeks, Dominic did everything he promised to care for the dog with no reminders.

One day, something spooked the pooch while dad’s face was too close, and those teeth were like razors, severing his lip in half; the image was horrifying.

While dad was being sewn together, Dominic’s dog was on its way back to the pound.
