Flash Fiction: 50-Caliber Tattoo Gun

A win over Austin “The Locomotive” Marshall would be Travis Mansfield’s biggest win to date—and, in the opinion’s of oddsmakers, his most shocking.

From the first day of training camp until its conclusion six-weeks later, coach repeated the game plan like a broken record, “You’ve got to use your speed and punch him in the mouth when his hand dips toward his midsection.”

It was no surprise to Travis when Marshall’s left hand dropped; Travis, according to plan, tattooed him with an earth-shattering right hook, sending “The Locomotive” off his tracks and face first into the canvas.
